Texas State University has officially reshaped its athletic program by joining the newly rebuilt Pac-12 Conference. The Bobcats leave the Sun Belt Conference to join a fresh league core that includes Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, and San Diego State.
University President Dr. Kelly Damphousse and Athletic Director Don Coryell aggressively finalized a $5 million exit fee to secure the transition. The move rewards the Bobcats with a multi-year media rights agreement with CBS Sports Network, The CW, and USA Network, ensuring national linear television coverage for the program's conference games.
Head coach GJ Kinne has already capitalized on the conference upgrade on the recruiting trail. The Bobcats secured commitments from top-tier regional talent, including historic four-star running back Daylon Gordon.
Texas State enters the league coming off back-to-back winning seasons under Kinne. The explosive offense relies heavily on quarterback Brad Jackson and wide receiver Beau Sparks to power the passing game.
The Bobcats host their inaugural Pac-12 home game at San Marcos against Colorado State. Texas State kicks off the regular season down the road against the Texas Longhorns in Austin.
